I received this card today. I should have expected it. Every year, this is the one holiday greeting I can depend on receiving. After all, rescuing a child from drowning seems to merit at least that. Still, it gives me an odd mix of feelings when I get this reminder of a mother’s gratefulness. There’s a sense of pride, humility and awkwardness about the whole thing. I often wonder if the doctor who breathed life back into the three-year old also receives the same unfaltering attention.
I am informed in this missive that the said child is now 26 and working retail in San Francisco. I hope she has a good 2011.
(There are two photos here because when I took the first photo, I didn’t realise that I had the kit lens on rather than the 50mm prime. I really love that prime, the quality lens is really obvious here.)
